If a student wishes to appeal a Housing charge, an appeal may be initiated provided there is legitimate basis for the appeal. A general dissatisfaction with a charge is not a basis for appeal.
An appeal may be submitted to the Campus Life Advisory Committee (CLAC). The Campus Life Advisory Committee is appointed by the Associate Vice President for Campus Life. The membership is comprised of university personnel, with a majority from outside the Department of Housing and Residence Life. The members meet each month to review appeals.
The appeal must be in writing and from the student. A letter discussing the nature of the appeal and any additional supporting information and documentation must be submitted by noon the day prior to the meeting in order to be heard that month. Failure to meet this deadline may result in the appeal being reviewed the following month or at the next CLAC meeting. Since the CLAC is reviewing written records, students do not attend these meetings.
Students will receive written notification of the Committee's decision through the mail after the meeting.
If a student wishes to re-appeal based on the outcome of the original appeal, the same process must be followed. The committee will only review re-appeals that bring new information forth that was not included in the original appeal.
