Description

The Department of Housing and Residence Life employs Housing Ambassadors (HAs) who are responsible for conducting daily tours of housing facilities, staffing three of the department’s main front desk areas, and assisting with special events for marketing on-campus housing. 

We are especially looking to hire HAs who can begin work in April, and be available through the summer.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Students with a current valid Driver’s License 
    • Be in good academic and conduct standing with the university 
    • Be in good standing with the Department of Housing and Residence Life 
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Preferred:
    • Students who have had experience living on campus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn about UCF and the Department of Housing and Residence Life
  • Ability to effectively and positively represent UCF and the Department of Housing and Residence Life

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-person tours for prospective students and families
    • Conduct tours to showcase housing communities and tour rooms 
    • Positively discuss the facilities and amenities offered in housing 
    • Positively discuss personal experiences living on campus 
    • Effectively communicate steps of the housing application process 
  • Staff Housing Administration Building(s) – HAB, HS, and NorthView front desks during normal business hours (8am – 5pm)  
    • Greet visitors and students as they enter 
    • Respond appropriately and helpfully to questions and concerns from students, visitors and families 
    • Refer students, visitors and families to applicable campus resources as needed 
    • Assist with basic office tasks such as preparing and delivering mail to housing community offices, answering phones and responding to emails.
    • Provide group tours upon request
  • Assist with Open House days and Orientation for incoming students
    • Lead housing tours during Open House dates. These events are mandatory and occur three to four times in the Fall and Spring semesters.
    • Lead tours during Orientation days hosted throughout the summer
  • Represent Housing in various presentations, tours, and social media content as needed   
  • Attend required in-person bi-weekly staff meetings 
  • Assist in the training of new staff 
  • Work 15-20 hours a week on average 
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Hourly Pay is minimum wage 
  • Housing and Residence Life clothing/uniform polos will be provided at no cost 
  • Excellent leadership, communications, customer service, teamwork, and public speaking experience
  • Priority in securing space in on-campus housing for following year, if performance is excellent and employment continues into following year

Selection Process

The selection process for the Housing Ambassador position generally takes place each summer, but positions are filled as needed every semester. The first step of the process will be filling out an online application. Candidates will then be selected for in-person interviews and notified of their hire status after all interviews are completed.
