The United Resident Student Association (URSA) is the second-largest student organization at the University of Central Florida. It is the Residence Hall Association (RHA) for UCF. Every resident living in on-campus housing or Pegasus Landing (UCF Affiliated Housing) is automatically a member of URSA. This also includes the Rosen College of Hospitality Housing.
The
URSA Executive board provides programming for the entire UCF Housing and Affiliated
Housing community. The Executive board consists of residents who volunteer
their time to serve their community while managing classes, jobs, and other
obligations. Using money allocated from housing fees and fundraisers, we plan
social and educational events to promote a stronger community atmosphere.
Other functions we serve include acting as liaisons between other on-campus
organizations, such as SGA, and advocacy (promoting changes with in the community
to UCF Housing Administration).
Past successful programs include our UCF Golden Knight Ball, Pajama Prom, which won a regional award for Social Program, and our semester fundraiser, Exam Goody Packages.
The
Executive Board also oversees the individual community’s Area Councils,
which consist of residents from that community. The Area Councils provide
programming geared to their specific community’s needs. The members
run their own meetings and elect officers, while being guided by a Graduate
Assistant. They have smaller budgets, but receive financial support and advisement
from the URSA Executive board when needed. The Area Councils are a great place
for residents, especially first-year students, to get involved, be leaders,
and meet and make new friends.
Some programs hosted by the Area Councils include LA Horror Nights, Village of the Damned, and the “Thanks for Giving” Turkey Dinner.
URSA
provides many opportunities for residents to get involved and have a great
time. Not only can they attend programs, but there are several conferences
opportunities, at the state, regional, and national level, to attend each
year.
If you would like to get involved talk to your RA and he or she will be able to direct you to the adviser of your community’s Area Council. If you have questions, ideas for improving your community, or programs you would like to see, don’t hesitate to contact the URSA Executive board. Thank you for your interest in URSA. We hope you have a great Residence Hall experience here at UCF!
URSA enhances the resident's experience at UCF through our membership, programming opportunities, and the advocacy of our residents.
