National Nurses Week, which takes place May 6-12, recognizes and celebrates all the incredible nurses across the country that have devoted their lives to the betterment of others. Last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse. This year, the WHO extended the Year of the Nurse into 2021 to continue building on the increased visibility of nurses’ contributions over the past year.

Housing Ambassador Noah Fogel is a nursing major who was drawn to the field due to the various opportunities in job settings and having the choice to switch between many different types of nursing. When asked about his experience, he stated “I’m inspired by nursing because of the opportunities I will have to make a direct positive impact in someone’s life. I want to be one who is there for people when they may be at their lowest point or need comfort when nobody else shows up to their side.” Noah looks forward to learning more clinical information and skills to buikd up his knowledge and passion for patient care.

Housing Ambassador Rachel Dionne is a pre-nursing major. She has always been drawn to nursing and the medical sciences. Having past experience in hospitals and nursing homes, Rachel stated “The tremendous nurses I have met in the past have inspired me to become one myself. I am very passionate about helping others and have always appreciated the medical and health aspect of science. These nurses have encouraged me to make a difference in my own life as well as change the lives of others in the foremost way.” Rachel is eager to enter the nursing program and is most excited to meet and care for others.
