UCF Celebrates Hispanic Latinx Heritage Month

HSI Week Kickoff, Hispanic Latinx Heritage Month Showcase, more

Posted Monday, September 13, 2021 @ 10:01 AM

September 15th to October 15th is officially Hispanic Heritage Month, paying tribute to the cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans. This month is dedicated to sharing and appreciating the heritage, history and success of Latin/Hispanic Americans

As of the Fall semester 2019, UCF’s Hispanic/Latino undergraduate enrollment was 29.1%. This number gives UCF the honor of being a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).  HSI Week is September 13-19th – a week dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of HSI’s role in advancing educational equity.  You can find more information about HSI week here

To start the month out right, there will be a Hispanic Latinx Heritage Month showcase in the Student Union, Cape Florida Ballroom, Wednesday September 15th from 12:00 – 2:00pm.

Moreover, throughout the month, UCF will host a multitude of HHM events, such as film festivals and virtual discussions hosted by the Puerto Rico Research Hub on zoom about various topics/issues. More info here

From all of us here at UCF Housing, we would like to express how proud we are of our Hispanic/Latinx residents and wish you all a very happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
