Billing Information

Students must regularly check their student account at the my.ucf.edu website for Housing charges and room rents. Failure to regularly check student accounts can cause past due amounts, late fees and one or more HOLDs to be imposed on the student account.

Room rents and other Housing charges are billed to and appear on the student account. Housing charges can be found at the my.ucf.edu website on the student account statement. To view your account:

  • Log onto the my.ucf.edu website.
  • Under Essentials, select Student Self Service.
  • Under Finances, select View My Account.
  • Click the second tab, select Due Charges/ePay.

Payments

If required or relevant to the manner in which you are making payment, all payments on or related to housing charges should be made payable to: UCF Housing & Residence Life.

Please include on the check the student’s last name, UCF ID, term, and type of payment, i.e., “Smith, 1234576, Fall 2019 Housing payment.” This will expedite processing and posting to the correct student account and line item.

Automatic Deferral of Due Dates and Late Fees

Due dates for “housing charges covered by anticipated financial aid in excess of tuition and tuition related fees” are automatically deferred until the financial aid is received or the mid-point of the semester. Deferrals are calculated and granted automatically, and do not have to be requested.

Anticipated financial aid must appear on the student account in order to be considered, so third party payors (529 plans, vocational rehabilitation, GI Bill) are not considered anticipated financial aid.

Generally, financial aid pays tuition and tuition related fees first. [Note: The only exception is for financial aid that is restricted in use (i.e. Florida Prepaid Dormitory Plan benefits must be applied to housing first, because Florida Prepaid requires the aid be used for housing first)]. Once tuition and tuition related fees are paid in full, any remaining financial aid is applied to other outstanding charges for the semester, including housing charges.

If all housing charges will be covered by anticipated financial aid in excess of tuition and tuition related fees, no action needs to be taken by the student.

Late fees are also automatically deferred for the following housing accounts:

Beneficiaries of Florida Prepaid Dormitory Plans that will be used to pay some or all housing charges for the semester

Other Deferrals of Due Dates and Late Fees

Students who anticipate using any of the following to pay their housing fees should contact Housing to request additional extensions to late fees:

  • Florida Vocational Rehabilitation tuition or housing assistance.
  • Florida Blind Services tuition or housing assistance.
  • Veterans Administration or GI Bill housing assistance only.
  • Third party payors that require finalized enrollment to process payments (some 529 tuition and college savings plans).

Late Fees

Housing charges NOT covered by anticipated financial aid in excess of tuition and tuition-related fees become eligible for late fees of $100.00 if not paid on or before the due date.

HOLDs

If a housing charge is outstanding more than 45 days after the original due date, a HOLD will be automatically imposed on the student account via a student accounts computer process that is run daily. The HOLD will placed upon the account even if the due date has been deferred, waived, or otherwise extended or ignored.

An unpaid or unresolved HOLD can prevent:

Registering for classes.
Making class changes though Drop/Add/Swap/Withdraw.
Getting transcripts.
Graduating or getting your diploma or certificate.
HOLDs can be removed by payment, in full, of the underlying charge. Typically, the payment is posted to the student account one business day after the payment is initiated. The HOLD is automatically removed two business days after the payment is initiated.

  • Example: Student/Parent wishes to remove a HOLD resulting from a $1,000.00 housing charge outstanding more than 45 days past the original due date.
  • Student/Parent logs onto the my.ucf.edu website.
  • Selects Student Self Service.
  • Under Student Self Service, selects Student Accounts.
  • Under Student Accounts, selects View Your Account.
  • Locates the outstanding housing charge of $1,000.00, submits a credit card payment. (Note: A convenience fee of 2% x $1,000.00 = $20.00 will be added to the transaction, and the total amount charged to the credit card will be $1,020.00.)
  • Payment appears on the students account one business day after payment is submitted (i.e., Friday payments will appear on Monday, payments made during a weekend or on a university holiday will appear the first business day after the holiday).
  • The HOLD associated with outstanding balance will be automatically removed on the second business day after the payment is submitted.
  • HOLDS can be modified to allow registration/drop/add for good cause shown, as determined by the department. Financial hardship, inability to pay, lack of knowledge of due dates are not considered good cause shown. HOLDs cannot be modified to allow release of transcripts or other educational records.

If you need further assistance, please contact a Housing accountant at our contact form (select “Payments/Accounts” as the subject for a faster response) or by telephone at 407.823.4663 for assistance with your account.

Financial Aid

If you have anticipated financial aid in excess of tuition and tuition-related fees, which will be paid directly to the Department of Housing and Residence Life by the Student Financial Aid office, you will receive an automatic extension of the payment deadline for some or all of your housing costs and fees. If you do not receive sufficient estimated financial aid to cover tuition, tuition-related fees, and all of your housing costs and fees, or if part of your aid is paid directly to you, you will be responsible for payment of some or all of your housing costs and fees.

The chart shown below is an example of how to estimate whether you will be responsible for payment of some or all of your housing costs and fees. This is just an example – none of the numbers contained in this example represent actual costs, fees, payments or aid.

A Your total Housing costs and fees this semester $3,685.00
B Plus tuition and tuition-related fees + $2,500.00
C Minus Florida Prepaid Dormitory Plan payment 1 $2,470.00
D Minus estimated financial aid not paid directly to you 2 $3,000.00
E Equals A+B-C-D: $715.00
F Estimated undeferred Housing costs and fees equal 3

If line E is less than or equal to zero (0.00), put $0.00 here
If line E is greater than zero, put the amount from line E here

$715.00

If line F is greater than zero ($0.00), you must pay the amount shown on line F to avoid a late fee. You will not be charged a late fee if you pay the entire amount shown on line E by the Payments tab. If you do not pay undeferred Housing cost and fees by the Payments tab, you may be charged a late fee and have a HOLD placed on your student account.

1 As this example demonstrates, your Florida Prepaid Dormitory Plan (FPDP) may not cover the entire cost of your room. You are responsible for paying for any amount not covered by your plan and financial aid (line F) before the payment due date. Additional information regarding Florida Prepaid Dormitory Plans can be found on Florida Prepaid tab.

2 Do not include financial aid or financial assistance which is paid directly to you, such as: College Work-Study Program assistance, direct pay scholarships like military housing allowance, private loans, etc. Include only financial aid or assistance paid through the Student Financial Aid Office which can be applied to tuition, tuition related fees and housing costs and fees before any excess is turned over to you.

3 The amount on line F is only an estimate, and can change from time to time, based on changes in class registration, drop/add/withdrawal, or in financial aid offered/paid. You are responsible for estimating whether you need to make a Housing payment, and how much. You are also responsible for reviewing your student account for changes in tuition costs and fees, Housing costs and fees, and financial aid that may cause you to have undeferred Housing costs and fees.

Florida Prepaid

The Department of Housing and Residence Life accepts the Florida Prepaid College Plan (FPCP) dormitory contracts. FPCP dormitory contract is different than the Florida Prepaid College Plan for tuition. One unit of FPCP dormitory contract will cover the cost of a shared room in the Apollo, Libra, Nike, and Hercules communities for either the fall or spring semester. It will not cover any costs for summer housing.

Students with FPCP dormitory contracts may live anywhere on campus. If you choose to live in a facility with a rental rate more expensive than a shared room rate (Lake Claire Apartments, Nike Apartments, Hercules Apartments, the Neptune Community, Rosen College Apartments, Towers at Knights Plaza, or NorthView), you are responsible for the difference in rental rates.

FAQs

Yes, you can. FPCP pays prepayments for one given semester to one university.

Incoming Freshmen

We will give you a space in on-campus housing if you apply for housing by March 1 and indicated that you have a FPCP dormitory contract.

Returning On-Campus Residents (sophomores, juniors, seniors)

Priority for on-campus housing goes to incoming first-year students. Remaining spaces are made available to returning residents via a lottery process. If you apply during the lottery process prior to the application window closing, you will receive priority. This is not a guarantee of an offer of housing. In order to receive priority, you must have at least one unit of FPCP dormitory contract.

When you complete the online housing application on myUCF, there will be a section to indicate your FPCP dormitory contract number on the Housing Application Payment page (see screen shot below). Please make sure to put in the correct number for your plan and press the Submit button. You will see that your prepayment will change to $0 and the page will indicate that the prepayment will be billed to the Florida Prepaid Dormitory Plan. You should then select the Next button at the bottom of the page. FPCP will be billed for your housing prepayment and housing rental amounts.

Yes, you can request that your benefit be paid directly to The Pointe at Central or Knights Circle by contacting the property manager

Students must request a “No space” letter from the Department of Housing and Residence Life. The student contract holder then submits the letter to the FPCP and requests a refund. Students will receive an amount equal to the amount being paid for a dormitory space on campus. The refund will be provided for two semesters so that it may be used to offset the costs associated with off-campus living. Students must submit a Housing application for Fall or Spring to receive a “No Space” letter from UCF per FPCP.

Cancellation

  • Read your housing agreement terms and conditions or speak with a housing accountant before cancelling your agreement.
  • It is very important to notify UCF Housing promptly of your intent to cancel. Cancellation fees vary based on type of agreement and date of notification. Read your agreement terms and conditions to see the cancellation fee schedule that applies to you.
  • You must submit a request for cancellation in writing via email or by using our online “Contact Us” form.
  • Cancellation does not eliminate your responsibility for fees already charged (like late fees), or fees charged as a result of cancellation and move out (like rekey, damage or other fees).
  • You may not cancel the summer part of your Towers or NorthView housing agreement before move in. The earliest time you can initiate a cancellation of the summer portion of a 3-semester agreement is the beginning of the spring semester.
