Does the group leader have to select rooms for our group?
While any member of the group can select rooms on the group’s behalf, we recommend appointing the member with the earliest appointment time as the group leader and having the group leader select rooms during Room Selection. Group leaders are the only members of the group that can make changes to the group during room selection.
How do I leave my roommate group?
This differs depending on whether you are the group leader or a group member. Read the following carefully for both sets of instruction.
- Once in the Housing Portal, navigate to Roommate Matching and Room Selection > Roommate Matching.
- Click Continue on your fall agreement, then review your profile and click Save & Continue.
- Group members: Next, you will see your roommate group members listed. Above the list of members, you’ll see a button labeled Leave This Group. Click that button to remove yourself from the roommate group.
Group leaders: If you are a group leader, you will only have the option to Delete Group. If you wish to leave the group as the group leader without deleting it, pass the leadership to another member first by clicking the Make Leader button. You will then see the Leave This Group button.
What if I don’t have a full group or what if I wasn’t able to find any roommates?
You do not need to be a member of a roommate group to select a room. You may enter at or after your room selection timeslot as an individual and pick a room for yourself. While browsing rooms, you will have the opportunity to view roommate profiles of students already booked to the suite or apartment.
What can I do if I don’t want the room a group member placed me in?
You may contact us via email or phone and request to 1) have your booking removed and 2) to be removed from your roommate group. If your room selection event is still open, you will then be able to enter room selection as an individual and pick a different room. If your room selection event is closed, a member of Housing staff will assign you to a different space once all other room selection events have concluded. Alternatively, you can wait until the end of June when the online Room Change Form opens and request a room change via that form in the Housing Portal.
Is it guaranteed that there will be a suite or apartment that will accommodate my entire group?
No, space for roommate groups is limited. Be sure to set up a plan with your roommates in advance should you all need to reduce the number of members in your roommate group to select a room. The group leader may reduce the size of or delete your group. Groups may be edited any time before selecting a room by going to Roommate Matching and Room Selection, then clicking Roommate Matching.
