We are so excited that you want to make UCF your new home! It’s important to explore all of the options that are available to you before applying. Take some time, check out what you are eligible for, understand our process, and prepare for the housing application.

Eligibility

Eligibility for UCF Housing is based on your student classification and the semester(s) for which you are seeking housing. Eligibility for a particular type of housing does not guarantee availability. Availability of all housing types will vary each year. Students may apply for UCF Housing once they are offered admission, and are always encouraged to apply for housing as early as possible.

If you are unable to apply for a type of housing for which you are eligible, you may join our waitlist.

Married and family housing is not available at UCF.

Students participating in the UCF Online degree program are not eligible to live in UCF Housing. For more information, please see the Guidelines section of the UCF Online website.

How to Choose

With different styles and agreement lengths, we are often asked, “how do I choose?” There are a variety of different factors that can help you narrow down which agreement type is best for you. Keep in mind, that no matter where you live, all residence halls have similar amenities such as high-speed Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, included utilities (no caps), maintenance services, and activities like social programs and events. Once you can answer some of these questions, go to the Options tab and explore our communities by looking at floor plans, photos, and even taking a virtual tour!

Ask Yourself:

  1. Academic Agreement includes the option of living at the following communities for TWO semesters (Fall and Spring). Residents in the Academic Agreement must vacate their residence hall during winter break.
  2. Annual Agreement includes the option of living at the following communities for THREE semesters (Fall, Spring, and the following Summer). Residents in the Annual Agreement do not have to vacate their residence hall during winter break, but must commit to living in the space for the full three semester duration of the agreement.
    • Towers, Northview, Rosen (Rosen has the option to add a summer semester).
    • Although considered an Academic Agreement, Rosen residents have the option to add a summer semester. Residents living in Rosen do not have to vacate their space during winter break.

Libra and Apollo are the most centrally located residence halls on campus. If you are interested in living in one of these, you should apply for the Academic Agreement.

The Towers Agreement, NorthView Agreement, or Rosen Agreement may be a great fit for you!

*All rooms in these agreements are apartment style and feature private bedrooms. The Towers Agreement and NorthView Agreement are annual or 3-semester agreements. The Rosen Agreement has the option of becoming a 3-semester agreement.

The Academic Agreement would be a great fit for you! Communities that are all freshmen students include Apollo, Libra, Lake Claire, Neptune, and Nike & Hercules.

Honor students have the opportunity to be in the Honors Living Learning Community which is located in Tower III. Students who are interested in living in this community MUST apply for a Towers Agreement. It is not required or guaranteed to live in Honors housing, as Honors students live in all our residence halls and are not given priority for on-campus housing.

LLCs are a great opportunity for first-year students to connect to a smaller community and engage in unique experiences. Current LLCs include EXCEL/COMPASS, LEAD Scholars, or Nursing @ Nike. All LLCs (besides Honors) reside in Academic Agreement communities.

Most transfer and graduate students live off-campus around the UCF/Orlando area. The Office of Student Neighborhood Relations provides resources for students in their search for off-campus housing, such as the Knight’s Guide to Living Off Campus, and the UCF Off Campus Partners website.

There is limited on-campus housing available. Transfer or Graduate students are eligible to live at our NorthView community and Rosen College Apartments. Transfer or Graduate students may apply to live at NorthView through our lottery system. The Rosen application is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

We highly recommend searching for off-campus housing options, as on-campus housing is very limited for upperclassmen or returning residents. The Office of Student Neighborhood Relations provides resources for students in their search for off-campus housing, such as the Knight’s Guide to Living Off Campus, and the UCF Off Campus Partners website.

Towers at Knights Plaza and NorthView housing applications operate on a lottery system for returning residents, upperclassman, and off-campus students. Rosen housing applications will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply and submit your prepayment during the lottery or application window in order to be considered for the type of housing you have selected. Apply for a Living Learning Community

After applying for housing, students looking for a more focused housing experience can choose to be part of a Living Learning Community- (i.e., a group of students placed together based on a common interest or academic program.)

Verify your agreement status

Your housing agreement status will be updated from “submitted” to “confirmed” when we verify that we have space for you in the housing agreement you selected. You can view your housing agreement status on the Housing Portal and will receive an email when the status is updated to “confirmed.”

Find Roommates

Roommate Matching is an offered service to help you find preferred roommates. These matches should be viewed as requests and preferences only. All roommate requests are subject to availability and UCF Housing reserves the right to assign students as needed. To learn more, go to the Roommate Matching tab on the top of this page.

Open Housing

UCF Housing and Residence Life offers an Open Housing option to students of all classifications and in all housing agreement types. Open Housing allows students to reside together in the same room, suite, or apartment, regardless of sex. When students complete a housing application, they will be given the opportunity to opt in to Open Housing.

Students who do not opt in to Open Housing will roommate match and room select with students who have the same sex listed on their myUCF.

Open Housing Guidelines

  • Any student may opt in to Open Housing when completing a housing agreement.
  • Students opting in to Open Housing will only be able to roommate match with other students of the same housing agreement type who have opted in to Open Housing.
  • Students will not be automatically placed in an Open Housing suite/apartment unless they have indicated on their agreement that they would be comfortable living in Open Housing.
  • Students must be able to fill all spaces in the suite/apartment with other students who have requested Open Housing during room selection.
  • Open Housing is the students’ decision and will never not be forced upon an individual. Vacancies in suites and apartments will be filled by another individual opting in to Open Housing if possible.
  • UCF DHRL may initiate consolidation procedures to prevent spaces in Open Housing from being left vacant. If room changes are done to consolidate individuals opting in to Open Housing, they will be notified via email.
  • UCF DHRL encourages students to discuss this program with their parents/guardians before selecting Open Housing.
  • This program is not designed for use by romantic couples. Students in intimate relationships should not choose to live together in Open Housing.
  • Requesting Open Housing does not guarantee a specific room type or building. Room selection is based on availability.
  • Students who opted in to Open Housing may choose to opt out of Open Housing during the timeframe that Roommate Matching is available to them in the Housing Portal.
  • Online Room Selection

Select your room assignment online with your roommate group during the online room selection process from May through July. Your room selection appointment times are determined based on when you completed your housing application. Rooms are available on a first applied, first served basis. To learn more, go to the Room Selection tab at the top of this page.

    Roommate Matching

Roommate Matching is an offered service to help you find preferred roommates. Roommate Matching is open as soon as you obtain a “confirmed” housing agreement status, and will remain open until your room selection appointment date.

It’s a great idea to have your web screen name available during Roommate Matching and that of any specific students you’d like to request as roommates. Every student is assigned a unique web screen name, which can be used to search for specific students or message potential roommates. Your web screen names can be found in the Housing Portal on the homepage under Your Details.

Fall agreements for Academic Main, Towers, Rosen, and NorthView will allow groups made of up to four individuals. Agreements beginning in the Spring or Summer semester, irrespective of agreement type, will allow only one roommate request.

Each applicant has the opportunity to create a profile for roommate matching purposes. Students are assigned a screen name based upon their last name only. Students are able to write a short description of themselves for potential matches to see. Additionally, there is a message function on the Housing Portal so they may screen potential matches before selecting them. UCF Housing is not able to screen potential matches on behalf of students, however, if a student already knows people with whom they would like to be placed, they may request them specifically.

Step I: Log into myUCF and enter the Housing Portal

    1. Go to myUCF.edu
    2. Type in your NID and password and click Sign On.
    3. Click on Tools > Housing > Housing Portal.

    Step II: Enter Roommate Matching

    1. Click on Roommate Matching and Room Selection on the gold bar at the top and review the information provided on that page.
    2. Select Roommate Matching from the dropdown at the bottom of the page and click Continue
    3. Click Enter Roommate Matching on the applicable agreement

Step III: Review or Update Roommate Profile

    1. Review your Roommate Profile and take time to answer the questions listed or to change any of the answers you previously provided
      • Use this page to provide information so your future roommate(s) can get to know you a little!
    2. Click Save and Continue to proceed to Roommate Matching

    Step IV: Roommate Search

    1. Follow the on-screen prompts to either request an individual, search by profile answers, or view suggested roommates
      • Join Group: Allows you to join an existing roommate group if you have the group name and password
      • Request an Individual: Allows you to search for a specific roommate using their web screen name and request that they join your group
      • Search by Profile Answers: Allows you to set which profile answers you’d like use to match with potential roommates who answered similarly
      • Suggested Roommates: Allows you to browse potential roommates based on percentage matches determined by the system

Our facilities are single sex, meaning all roommates within a suite are of the same sex. UCF Housing primarily assigns and matches students on the basis of sex. You are encouraged to utilize the Roommate Matching profiles, questions, and communication tools in the Housing Portal to identify the best roommate matches for you. UCF Housing strives to make each of our communities welcoming to all students.

  • Step V: Managing Roommate Matches

If you are the one that creates the roommate group, you are automatically designated as the group leader. Updates will be sent to you as a Housing Portal message when someone joins or requests to join your roommate group. Tip: We suggest choosing the group member with the earliest appointment time as your group leader.

    To view your roommate group:

    1. Re-enter Roommate Matching using the instructions above
    2. Review your Roommate Profile and click Save & Continue
    3. On the Roommate Search page, you will see your roommate group listed if you are a part of a group, and/or any outgoing requests to join a roommate group, and/or any incoming requests to join your group

To make changes to the group as the group leader:

    1. Re-enter Roommate Matching and navigate to the Roommate Search page; you will see your roommate group listed as well as any outgoing and incoming requests to join the group
      • Outgoing requests: Review requests sent to potential roommates and if you wish to cancel the request, click Cancel Request
      • Incoming requests: Review requests others have sent to join your group and click Accept or Decline
      • Group members: For each member, you have the option to Remove Roommate, Make Leader to pass leadership to another member, Send Message to send a message via the Housing Portal, or View Profile to see what their responses were on the roommate profile

    Room Selection

Incoming students who are confirmed for UCF on-campus housing may select their exact building, suite/apartment, and room, along with their roommate group through our room selection process.

Instructions for the online room selection process, including appointment times, will be communicated to students with confirmed housing applications via email for Fall & Summer selection.

    FAQs

    Room Selection FAQ

Students may participate in room selection as an individual or as a roommate group.  Fall roommate groups may range from two to six individuals, depending on agreement type. Roommate groups will be limited to two individuals per group for Spring selection.

Every roommate group has a leader. This role is assigned in the housing portal and can be passed to any member of the group (we suggest choosing the group member with the earliest appointment time). Once a leader is chosen, they may enter the process at their appointment time, and select an apartment for themselves and their roommate group.

LLCs may be selected in fall semesters only. Students with approved LLC designations will only be able to select rooms within the designated floors for their LLC. Roommate group members must also be approved for the same LLC. Not all LLC communities will participate in online room selection, so be sure to read your email instructions carefully.

Students who do not participate in the online selection process will be assigned rooms by our staff, based on their application preferences and room availability.

    Accommodation Requests

Students seeking housing accommodations due to a disability work with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) and the Department of Housing and Residence Life (DHRL) to determine appropriate arrangements. Students needing an accommodation may choose to have DHRL Staff assign housing based on their approved accommodation, or they may choose to use the priority room selection process and select the housing of their choice. Accommodation requests are reviewed individually through an interactive process with SAS to ensure equal access and nondiscrimination.

UCF provides reasonable housing accommodations for students with disabilities and offers two options once an accommodation is approved by Student Accessibility Services (SAS). Students may either have DHRL Staff assign them to a space that best meets their accommodation—prior to room selection and at the base rate for their Housing Agreement Type—or use the priority room selection process to choose their own space early, potentially with preferred roommates. Those who select housing beyond their approved accommodation will pay the corresponding rate for that room type. All placements depend on housing availability at the time of request and approval.

Accommodations requests are determined by Student Accessibility Services in connection with Housing and Residence Life. To start the process, visit SAS’s website.

    Assistance Animals

Assistance animals require approval and documentation of need. Before contacting Student Accessibility Services for approval, it is very important to review the information below:

    Assistance Animals FAQ

Pets are not permitted at UCF or in student housing accommodations, except as authorized by the University. UCF will consider requests for a “reasonable” accommodation from a student with a documented disability to permit the presence of an emotional support animal (ESA) if the animal is both necessary because of a student’s disability and reasonable under the circumstances.

Under the ADA, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the animal must be directly related to the person’s disability. Housing and Residence Life requests that residents notify them of the intended presence of a service animal in housing prior to the animal’s arrival.

Under the Fair Housing Act, an ESA is an animal that an individual with a disability utilizes in the housing environment solely for emotional support, well-being, or comfort, such as alleviating or mitigating one or more identified symptoms or effects of a person’s disability. While dogs are commonly used as emotional support animals, other types of animals may serve a person with a disability as an emotional support animal.

    • Emotional support animal accommodations requests are determined by Student Accessibility Services in connection with Housing and Residence Life. To start the process, visit SAS’s website:  https://sas.sdes.ucf.edu/get-connected/
    • Please keep in mind that registration of the animal with any national organization is not necessary and will not suffice for appropriate documentation or circumvent the DHRL emotional support animal process. Additional documentation will be needed to review the request.

    Returning Residents

We encourage our returning residents to consider all living options to find the best fit for them. On-campus housing priority is given to FTIC or first-year students, so there is limited space for upperclassmen. Utilize our resources for helping you find off-campus housing, and if applying for the lottery, consider having a backup plan in case you do not receive a spot on campus. No matter where you decide to live next year, we are here to help you with the process!

    Rosen College Apartments

Applications for returning residents interested in living in the Rosen College Apartments for 2026-2027 open in early January, independent of the lottery process. There is no lottery for Rosen agreements. Applications will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • Apply & Pay Prepayment: Apply and submit your prepayment. If you are interested in living at Rosen for Summer A, B, or C housing, you should apply for it at the same time with a separate semester application.
    • Priority Room Selection:
      • Current residents who apply for Summer C 2026 and Fall 2026 by March 13, 2026, will be automatically booked into their same room for those agreements so that they do not have to move out. Any current resident of building 904 not applying by March 13, 2026, may not be able to retain their same room and will have to move out and back in between semesters. Room changes between semesters to new rooms will not be accommodated.
      • Administrative room consolidations may be necessary and will be communicated to residents ahead of time.
    • General Fall Room Selection: Current residents confirmed for a Rosen agreement, who are not placed in the same room, will be able to select a Rosen room through General Summer and Fall Room Selection processes.
      • Roommates: Roommate groups of up to four will be able to designate one person to complete sign-up for the group. Roommates are only eligible to be pulled into the group if they were confirmed for the same agreement.

    On-Campus Housing Lottery

    Lottery Priority

Priority for on-campus housing goes to incoming first-year students. The limited number of remaining spaces are made available to returning residents via a lottery process.

The Returning Resident Lottery is a random selection process where Returning Residents have between a designated window to apply and submit a prepayment for their selected agreement type.

Students seeking to continue living on campus during their second year (i.e., rising sophomores) will receive priority in the Returning Resident Lottery for housing next year. It is important to note that receiving priority does not indicate a guarantee of space for second year students.

The following groups of students have been identified to receive priority in the lottery as well:

    • Students who have Florida Prepaid Dormitory Plans with at least 1 remaining credit
    • National Merit Scholars

    Lottery Instructions

The random selection lottery process for the 2026-2027 academic year will take place from January 13, 2026 – January 23, 2026. All applications will remain in a Submitted status until the lottery drawing takes place on January 30, 2026.

Returning Residents, off-campus students, transfer students, and graduate students are eligible to apply and submit a prepayment during the lottery window to be entered into the lottery for the type of housing selected. Options for on-campus housing through the lottery system include two annual-year agreements (Towers at Knights Plaza and Northview). Starting in Fall 2026, the academic-year agreement will no longer be available to returning residents.

      1. Apply & Pay Prepayment: Choose one of the two lottery agreement types (Towers or NorthView). Apply and complete your application by submitting your prepayment during the lottery application window: January 13, 2026 at 10 am through January 23, 2026.
    1. Lottery Confirmation or Waitlist Pool: Lottery results will be announced via email and through the Housing Portal on January 30, 2026.
      • Students who were not offered a space through the initial drawing are placed in a waitlist pool and their status will be updated to Waitlisted. The waitlist pool is not ranked, and students may remain in the pool for spaces that may become available at a later date. Remaining in the waitlist pool does not guarantee space, and students are encouraged to seek out off-campus housing options. Students who are not confirmed are able to cancel with no penalty.
      • Residents who are confirmed for a space through the lottery can either accept or decline the offer by a specific date with no penalty.
      • Residents who were selected through the random lottery drawing will see their agreement status change from Submitted to Confirmed.
      • Students who receive lottery confirmation will be eligible to participate in online Roommate Matching and Room Selection.
    2. Room Selection: Students who received a confirmation in the lottery will be eligible to participate in Room Selection. Details and instructions will be sent via UCF email.
      • Same Room Selection: Current residents in Northview and Towers who have confirmed applications will have the opportunity to claim their same rooms for the 2026-2027.
        • Same Room Roommate Pull-In: Current NorthView and Towers residents who have completed Same Room Selection will have the opportunity to pull roommates with corresponding confirmed agreements into any open bedrooms in their apartment.
      • General Room Selection: All current residents with confirmed agreements, who did not participate in Same Room Selection or Roommate Pull-in, will be able to select a room through General Room Selection. Note that current residents in Towers and NorthView who do not select the same room for the 2026-2027 year will need to move out during the Summer-to-Fall break.
        • Roommates: Roommate groups of up to four will be able to designate one person to complete sign-up for the group. Roommates are only eligible to be pulled into the group if they were confirmed for the same agreement.

    Lottery FAQ

Log in to myUCF and navigate to Tools > Housing > Housing Portal > Application. Follow the on-screen instructions.

After initial lottery confirmations, all confirmed applicants may enter roommate matching to find roommates or request specific people with the same agreement type. Encourage your preferred roommate(s) to apply during the lottery window. Only those confirmed will be eligible to be pulled in as roommates.

For residents participating in same room sign-up in Towers and NorthView, you will have the opportunity to pull in roommates into any open spaces in your apartment after the same room sign-up period is over.

For residents participating in General Room Selection, you will be able to pick a room with a group of up to 4 confirmed residents with your same agreement type

We will continue to draw applicants from the remaining active lottery applications in the waitlist pool for spaces that become available throughout the spring and summer, and through the opening weekend of fall.  Drawings will take place approximately every two weeks, depending on availability. Applicants waiting may choose to cancel and receive their prepayment back at any time. Approximately once per month, applicants on the waitlist will be asked to verify their continued interest in remaining on the waitlist so that individuals who no longer need a space can be removed from the pool.

Room Selection will be done online via the Housing Portal in myUCF, and those participating will be able to choose their exact building, apartment, and bedroom. Residents who have confirmed applications will receive detailed instructions on how to complete room selection online, so it will be important to read the email communication regarding the process.

We often hear the following response, “I applied for the lottery on the first day it opened, but I was waitlisted. My friend applied on the last day, and they were confirmed! How is that fair?” To ensure fairness through our process, we use a lottery system. Just like a lottery involving money, it does not matter WHEN someone submits their application for the housing lottery – as long as it was during the allotted window. This provides an equal opportunity for all returning residents who submit their application through the lottery, the same probability to get confirmed for a space as anyone else.

This depends greatly on how many students apply and what type of application they select. In previous years, we were able to offer lottery spaces to approximately 37% of the students who applied. It is important to note that each year the percentage of students who are offered space through the lottery may vary based upon the number of applicants.

If you did not apply and make your prepayment during the lottery application window, you may put your name on the standby waitlist in the Housing Portal after the date that lottery decisions go out. It is extremely important to note that it is not guaranteed that space will become available. We would still strongly encourage you to seek out off-campus housing options if you are in this situation.

Most off-campus student apartment complexes are serviced by the UCF Shuttle. A listing of those complexes can be found at https://parking.ucf.edu/transportation/off-campus/

Students who receive a lottery confirmation but no longer need their space will have a very limited window during which they may cancel their housing at no penalty. This information will be included in the lottery notification email. Spaces forfeited by lottery recipients will be randomly distributed to students who choose to wait for a lottery confirmation on the waitlist.

A lottery is a random selection process in which a system randomly draws the UCFID numbers of students who submitted their application during the lottery window.
