February 4th is National Thank a Mail Carrier Day Posted Tuesday, February 1, 2022 @ 8:38 AM Did you know that our UCF mail centers processed over 103,000 packages last year alone (and that’s not including any paper mail, like birthday cards, letters or post cards)? With four staffed mail centers on main campus – the Apollo/Libra, Academic Village, Lake Claire, and Northview Mail Center, our mail staff stays buzzing all day long, Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm. All students living on campus are assigned a box number in an area close to their residential community, but are required to sign for and pick up packages at their community mail center. For over 12 years, Theresa Corral has worked for our UCF mail centers – she currently takes on the role as an Office Support Assistant at the West Plaza Mail Center. While her official title may state otherwise, Theresa likes to think of herself as an every-day Santa Clause! Her favorite part of the job? Being able to work with students and pass along her friendliness in the form of a smile or small affirmation. She may not take on the typical professor or educator role, but Theresa enjoys teaching students some of the simple “mail etiquette” we often forget about – like how to properly address a letter or go about sending a package! One of her biggest reminders to students is: “It is important to write your legal name on packages, so we can figure out who it belongs to. We do our best to deliver to the right person all of the time!” When asked about one of her craziest package experiences, Theresa claims she’s had tires and trunk lids delivered to the mail center. She was even asked if she could accept a car delivery from Carvana! The next time you walk into one of our UCF mail centers to pick up a package or send one out, be sure to thank our wonderful UCF mail staff! Their hard work and dedication to serving all of our Knight residents keeps communication going round. Back
