Room Design Contest

Please note: dates below are tentative and subject to change.

Each year, UCF Housing residents can showcase their style and enter the department’s Room Design Contest for a chance to win prizes and be featured across social media.

This year, residents can submit 3-5 photos of their room in one of three categories: private room, shared room (two roommates), or common area / living room (group entry). Prizes include Amazon gift cards.

To enter the 2025 Room Design Contest, students should fill out the form linked here (coming soon!). The deadline to enter is Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at 11:59pm.

Rooms selected for a photo session with UCF Housing and Residence Life staff will be contacted on a rolling basis.

Voting will take place in two parts.

Staff Voting
Department of Housing and Residence Life staff will vote for the top 8 entries (finalists) in each category. Staff voting will end on Tuesday, September 30th, at 12:00pm.

Student Voting
Voting on finalists will take place on the UCF Housing Instagram page (@UCFHousing). Voting will begin Thursday, October 2nd, at 12:00pm, and end Monday, October 6th, at 8:00am.

First place, second place and third place in all three categories will be contacted at their UCF email by Friday, October 17th, at 5:00pm.

Please note: winners will NOT be contacted via social media. Please be wary of accounts impersonating our only Instagram account, @UCFHousing.

Rules, Terms and Conditions

  1. Participants must currently live in an UCF on-campus residence hall–Apollo, Libra, Lake Claire, Hercules, Nike, Neptune, Rosen, Towers, or NorthView.
  2. Acceptance of a prize constitutes the winner’s consent to the use of his/her name, likeness and generated content by UCF Housing for promotional or advertising purposes. Contestants consent to future use of their decorated space for photography and videography as requested by UCF Housing. All requested photography and videography sessions will be supervised by UCF Housing staff and will be scheduled in agreement with all occupants of the resident’s assigned space.
  3. UCF Housing reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the operation of the promotion or otherwise violating these rules.
  4. Entrants decorating their space with prohibited items will be automatically disqualified. See your Community Living Guide for a complete list of items (No window coverings, string lights or candles allowed).
  5. Only one entry per bedroom (Private and shared rooms ALL count as one bedroom and one entry). If living in a shared room, both roommates must agree to participate in the contest. Suitemates don’t need to agree to participate unless you are submitting a living room entry.
  6. Students may submit an entry for best living room in addition to a bedroom entry. All suitemates sharing the space must agree to participate in the contest when submitting a living room entry.
  7. Your submission must include at most 3 unedited photos of your room. No Instagram photos, photos with filters, or collages will be accepted. No bathroom photos, please.
  8. All entries will be reviewed. Department of Housing and Residence Life staff will vote for the top 8 entries (finalists) in each category. Then, voting on finalists will take place on the UCF Housing Instagram page.
  9. Department of Housing and Residence Life staff will choose finalists based on creativity, use of color, school spirit, theme, and overall design.
  10. Department of Housing and Residence Life student staff are not eligible to participate.
