Learn about Alexa Delahunty’s various internships and extracurriculars Posted Tuesday, August 2, 2022 @ 9:20 AM Alexa Delahunty was born and raised in Boca Raton, FL, but has called several other locations home, including Sweden and Wales! Alexa started her journey as a freshman in the Neptune community. Seeking more involvement within the housing community, Alexa accepted a leadership role in the summer of 2021 as a Resident Assistant (RA) in Neptune. As a sophomore she was an RA in Apollo and is currently an RA in Tower II. She even served as a Student Support Ambassador in Spring 2021 and helped with COVID-19 policies and procedures for the housing department. Outside of Housing, Alexa is an active member of the College of Business Ambassadors, a program designed to act as the College’s student voice and Dean’s liaison. Aside from being a full-time student and heavily involved on campus, Alexa has been working as a summer intern at Junior Achievement, a nonprofit that inspires and prepares young people for success. Additionally, she secured a marketing internship role with UCF Graduate Business Programs for the upcoming Fall/Spring semesters. Alexa was first introduced to her summer internship through attending The Invitational, a networking event hosted by the College of Business (COB) that works to connect students with dozens of employers. After officially applying for the position on Knightline (an exclusive COB job board), she soon earned her spot as a Programs Intern. Since then, Alexa has been assisting the director of programs to ensure that the nonprofit has enough volunteers for programs, uses Junior Achievement’s Customer Relationship Management system and is working closely with their marketing team. With summer drawing to a close, Alexa plans on taking the numerous skills obtained from her work with Junior Achievement and utilizing it in her internship with UCF Graduate Business Programs. After being contacted through LinkedIn by the Director of Marketing about the position, Alexa took advantage of the connection and was hired as an intern on the spot. In this role, Alexa will partake in various tasks, ranging from marketing analytics, to conducting data analyses and tracking social media engagement. When asked what she is most excited for, she states “…to learn more about graduate programs at UCF and get hands on experience with social media marketing because that is what I want my future career to be in!” Alexa acknowledges her RA role and the great impact it’s had on accomplishing the early stages of her professional goals. She states “The RA role has taught me many skills including leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and so much more. This role has helped me get more involved at UCF and helped me build a professional network! Being an RA actually helped me get the internship at Junior Achievement. During my interview I bonded with the interviewer over being RAs and our experience in Higher Ed. Ultimately, being an RA kickstarted my involvement at UCF which had a chain reaction to bring me where I am today.” Back
