UCF Recognized at SAACURH Regional Conference Posted Friday, March 20, 2020 @ 2:07 PM Representatives of UCF Housing made their way to Daytona last week for the South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (SAACURH) Regional Business Conference. The conference focuses on boardroom discussions, passing legislation, electing the upcoming year’s positions, voting on awards, and selecting the upcoming year’s conference location. The Department of Housing & Residence Life representatives included three students from the UCF Residence Hall Association and two students from the UCF National Residence Hall Honorary. The department was nominated for several awards, including RHA President of the Year, Outstanding Advocacy Initiative, and Distinguished Service. DHRL was awarded runner-up for School of the Year, and Assistant Director and RHA/NRHH Advisor Kaila Kowalski was named Advisor of the Year on the regional level. Kowalski was one of 6 advisors nominated for the award. Her nomination was supported by a ten-page submission, which included her involvement in student affairs, career highlights, and letters of support from an RHA student and DHRL Executive Director, Dr. April Konvalinka. As the regional winner, Kowalski will be up for Advisor of the Year on the national level at NACURH, May 22-25th. Back
