Solomon Debose has been a Housing Ambassador with UCF Housing for the past two years. UCF Housing Ambassadors are responsible for conducting daily tours of housing facilities, staffing four of the department’s main front desk areas, and assisting with special events for marketing on-campus housing. Debose, who is from nearby Sandford, FL, came to UCF to pursue his degree in Film. Debose, now a Junior, previously lived in the Hercules community, which is what inspired him to apply to be a Housing Ambassador. He loves how living on campus helps you to really know and appreciate the beauty of UCF’s campus and all of the amenities”.

Reflecting on his experience with Housing thus far, Debose said he appreciates the impact he can have as a UCF representative to incoming students. “One day, after I gave the housing tour, a parent and student came up to me and told me that I was the reason they chose to go to UCF over other schools. It really showed me how much of an impact my job can have”.

Because of his dedication to the Housing Ambassador role and his connection to his peers, Debose was promoted to the role of Senior Housing Ambassador (SHA) last year. The SHA acts as a liaison between the HA team and the Marketing Coordinator. Debose has been part of recruiting and training new staff, creating staff bonding events, and bringing the Housing Ambassador team together as a wholeMarketing Coordinator Hayden Lau supervises the Housing Ambassador team and has enjoyed watching Debose grow. “I have enjoyed watching our team bond as coworkers and many of them as friends. Solomon has played a big role in this and always keeps us laughing and waiting for the next joke or one-liner. Our prospective students and families enjoy their tours with him as he conveys information in a fun but effective way. Solomon is an asset to our HA team, but I can’t wait to see where his film career takes him in the future!
