The Kill-A-Watt campaign is an annual competition that encourages on-campus residents to reduce their energy consumption for a chance to earn scholarships. Hosted by UCF Sustainability Initiatives in collaboration with UCF Housing and Residence Life, the contest runs from February 1st to March 31st. At the end of the contest, the residential buildings with the lowest energy consumption will be announced, and residents of the winning buildings will be able to apply for scholarships.

The UCF Office of Sustainability Initiatives has released tips and tricks on how to save energy, including shorter showers, taking the stairs, and unplugging unused items. These efforts have saved the university about $50,000 in past years, furthering UCF’s overall sustainability goals and saving funds for other important student support.
