An ally, activist, friend and scholar Posted Thursday, July 8, 2021 @ 11:10 AM While the world turned upside down this past year, this Resident Assistant (RA) became an active member in her community, uniting and empowering those around her. Ashley Pierre, a Tower 3 RA, takes on more responsibility than most would ever be comfortable with, but loves to throw herself into her work and let her passion shine through. During her time as the co-public relations chair of the Asian Student Association (ASA), Pierre worked through the pandemic to unite both the Black and Asian communities on campus. “There was so much xenophobia and racism that was resurfacing. I wanted to contribute to the community that has given me so much in a way that would reach many. “ Continuing this work alongside her sorority, Alpha Kappa Delta Phi, and a Haitian women’s organization, Fanm Kreyol, she works hard to educate herself on social issues that not only affect her own communities, but other communities whose voices deserve to be heard and empowered. She prides herself as an ally for all. Outside of the UCF community, she keeps the same fervor at her internship with Digitas, a marketing agency. “All these experiences combined [while] navigating through life with an open mind, willing to be educated, and the strength of my family has taught me how important it is to listen and do everything with love and passion.” Pierre’s love for UCF has led her to become an active member in every organization she joined. Before she was an RA, Pierre was involved in a service organization called Circle K International before joining the O-Team. This led her to take a peer advisor role with Transfer and Transition Services, eventually leading her down the path to becoming an RA. As a rising senior majoring in advertising and public relations, this RA is sure to continue impacting the UCF community long after graduation. Back
