RA Kristen is a Nursing major at UCF in her Junior year. She’s originally from Wesley Chapel and moved to Orlando for college, where she was a resident in Tower III before being selected as an RA for Tower III. Besides UCF Housing, Kristen is involved with Campus Crusades and used to do rhythmic gymnastics. In fact, a fun fact about Kristen is that she could touch the back of her leg with her head! Now, she works as a medical scribe and hopes to become a nurse practitioner in the future.

Kristen has been an RA for two years and learned about this leadership opportunity through housing posters that can be found around the residence halls. One reason she applied to be an RA was because she loves the family aspect of living in the same community as her peers. She also enjoys building meaningful relationships with others and felt she could make a difference with UCF residents. When asked about her favorite moments as an RA, she stated “I once hosted a potluck with my residents and got to try monkey bread and a resident’s Latino cuisine for the first time. It really brought the floor close together, and I enjoyed getting to know everyone on my floor.

Unfortunately, potlucks and other events have not been possible this year due to the pandemic. However, Kristen remains hopeful that her residents can enjoy a great on-campus experience. She says, “Because of the pandemic, I feel like a lot of residents are afraid to talk to their RA. I hope they know that I am always available and would love to meet, whether virtually or six feet apart.
