Show Your Appreciation for a UCF Employee Through OTM Nominations

March 4th Is National Employee Appreciation Day

Posted Thursday, March 3, 2022 @ 2:22 PM

National Employee Appreciation Day falls on March 4th as a day to recognize the efforts of those around us, but why not take every month to celebrate the hard work of those involved in the Housing and Residence Life community? Through the OTM program, or “Of The Month,” you can show your support for fellow residents, advisors, community members, RA’s, faculty/staff, and ARH Executive Board members by nominating them through a variety of categories.

Nominations

All Nominations can be submitted here and any resident or staff member can submit an OTM as long as the nominee is in the right category. All nominations are due by 11:59 p.m. on the last day of each month.

The categories include Advisor, Community Service Program, Diversity Program, Educational Program, Executive Board Member, First Year Student, Institution Faculty/Staff, Organization, Passive Program, Residence Life Professional Staff, Resident Assistant, Residential Community, Social Program, Spotlight, Student, Student Staff Member.

Tips for Writing

  • Be detailed, these nominations may become a guide or resource for other leaders on campus.
  • The nomination should be a least 1 page, no more than 600 words with specific information on what the candidate has accomplished.
  • Define acronyms for clarity. The only acronyms you should use are NRHH, NACURH, RHA, NCC, and region name.
  • Include month-specific information such as things the nominee accomplished or how they did it in the month of nomination. Use phrases such as “in the month of ______, they did…”
  • Make sure you are nominating them for the right category, and your nomination makes sense to someone that is not involved, attending, or working at UCF.

Winners

All UCF campus winners are announced at the beginning of each month through the NRHH website. You can also expect a newsletter to be released on the Housing and Residence Life website of all the winners with a brief summary of their accomplishments.

Every OTM nomination is automatically considered for the OTM Traveling Award, which is awarded annually at the NACURH Annual Conference. Meaning, if nominated, you can win on the Campus, Regional, or National levels. Back in April 2020, DHRL’S Kathiana Desir was recognized as a NACURH winner after her OTM nomination was won on the campus level and continued to higher levels. She was recognized for her outstanding work as Assignment Assistant through the beginning of the pandemic where she worked diligently to help students, parents, and staff acclimate to the many new changes.

Nominating someone is an easy task with high payoff, so take the time to nominate someone next month to show your appreciation!
