Members of UCF’s Residence Hall Association (RHA) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) recently attended the 2022 South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (SAACURH) Regional Business Conference.

After traveling ‘Around the World in 48 Hours’ with the SAACURH Board of Directors and all other institutions in attendance, UCF left with a grand total of six awards at the regional level. These awards include the School of the Year Award, First Year Experience Award (Hailey McTee), SEAHO Student of the Year Award (RA Keri Nguyen), Philanthropy Event Award, and Second Place for Regional and Conference Spirit.

The School of the Year award is the “highest honor a member school can attain. The award recognizes outstanding achievements on the campus level by a residence hall government and associated groups as well as contributions on the state, regional and NACURH levels.”

The First Year Experience award “recognizes the outstanding contributions of a first-year student. This award encourages involved first-year students to remain active in leadership positions and to continue improving the residence hall environment on their campus.”

The Student of the Year award “recognizes outstanding service to NACURH by an individual who has been directly affiliated with the organization.”

The South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (SAACURH) is the largest affiliate of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH).  The purpose of SAACURH is to “advocate on behalf of colleges and universities to better the on-campus experience of students.”

The Regional Business Conference (RBC) is one of three large scale conferences that NACURH holds throughout the year which provide opportunities for awards and recognition at the regional and national level, leadership development, personal growth, and more for all individuals who attend.

With the nine southernmost U.S. states and the Bahamas affiliated with SAACURH, the University of Central Florida was one of over 50 institutions that attended RBC.
