Move-in Appointments and COVID-19 Test Times


All residents must register in the housing portal for a move-in appointment, during which they will complete a mandatory COVID-19 test.

If you reside on campus during all or part of the winter break: (updated 1/4/21)

You must register in the housing portal to re-encode your ID card for access to your room during the winter break period (December 14-January 6). This information was emailed to you. Check your knights email for details.

COVID-19 testing appointments for residents who remain at Rosen over the winter break, including student staff, are on January 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Residents who stay over the winter break, and who do not complete a COVID-19 test on January 6, will have their card access restricted until they complete a mandatory COVID test.

If you leave for break, and return before the end of the break period (before January 7), you should register in the housing portal to re-encode your ID card during the break period, and plan to report for COVID testing on January 6th. Appointments for COVID testing on January 6th will show in the portal once you have made a card re-encoding appointment for January 4th – 6th.

If you are on campus over the winter break and know you will not be able to test on January 6, register for an available testing appointment January 6-10, and your card may be re-encoded again when your test is complete.

If you will be returning from winter break or are a new resident:

Appointments for residents who are new to or returning to Rosen run:

  • January 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
  • January 7 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • January 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
  • January 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • January 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

New and returning residents will not be able to check in to housing without completing a COVID-19 test during their registered Rosen move-in appointment. External test results may not be used. Any resident arriving prior to their registered move-in appointment date, or after appointments on their registered date must make alternative arrangements to stay off campus until they have completed a registered on-campus COVID-19 test.

Residents who are unable to arrive between January 6-10 must call the COVID line at 407-823-2509 to make alternate testing arrangements after January 10, 2021. Students will be responsible for payment of their COVID test if they arrive after January 10. These residents will not be permitted to move in to their Rosen College Apartments room until a negative COVID-19 test result is approved by UCF Student Health Services via the COVID line.

To register for your move-in and COVID-19 testing appointment:

Step 1: Housing portal
  • Login to myUCF > Student Self Service > Housing > Housing Portal.
  • Click on the Spring 2021 COVID-19 Testing and Move-In Appointment link on the right side of the Housing Portal Home Page.

Step 2: Testing pre-registration

Prior to arrival, you must pre-register your personal information for your COVID-19 test processing by COVID Testing LLC. After you pre-register, you will receive a confirmation email from Covid Testing LLC. Print a copy of your confirmation email, including your personal QR code. You will need this printed code for testing.

Be prepared for your test results- see below for details on the move-in procedures for negative and positive test results.

*If you have previously tested positive for COVID-19, you are still required to test at move-in. Bring documentation of your previous testing results with you.  After testing, contact tracers will work with you to review symptoms, assess your documentation, and determine on a case-by-case basis if you may be permitted to move-in.

Move-In Day Overview: Rosen College Apartments


YOU MUST HAVE READY:

  • Housing move-in appointment completed online
  • COVID-19 test registration completed online
    • Have a printed copy of your pre-registration confirmation email with your personal QR code for testing check-in.
  • Have your UCF ID card (current students) or plan to pickup your UCF ID card on move-in day (new UCF students).
  • Have the UCF Mobile app downloaded on your phone or mobile device.
  • Know your personal isolation plan

 

Before leaving home:

  • Review our packing list and make sure to have ID before you leave home!
  • Be sure to have belongings packed for possible isolation.
  • Verify your move-in appointment time and housing assignment on your myUCF housing portal before you arrive on campus.
  • Print a copy of your pre-registration confirmation email with your personal QR code for testing check-in.
  • Make sure to download the UCF Mobile app if you have not already done so.
  • Have a Photo ID ready to show at check-in. If you will be picking up your UCF ID at check-in, you still need to bring another form of photo ID. A Driver’s license, State ID card, or passport will suffice.
  • To speed up your check-in, bring a screenshot of your room assignment screen from the housing portal. The image should include your HRL ID and room assignment. You should have this ready to show on your phone or other mobile device. A sample screenshot would look like:
  • Do not bring any more than 2 individualto assist you with your move in, consider not bringing individuals who are at higher risk for COVID-19. 

Upon arrival at the Rosen College campus:

  • Students (and no more than two accompanying helpers) should wear face coverings throughout the move-in appointment and at all times on campus.
  • When you arrive to the Rosen campus, go left through the parking lot to arrive at the Rosen College Apartments.
  • Park in the surface lot where space is available.
  • At the start of each appointment, residents will undergo a rapid COVID-19 test administered by COVID Testing LLC at the mobile testing station. Follow signage to the testing area. Bring your printed QR code for testing.
    • Guests should wait in their vehicles while residents take their COVID-19 test and check-in.
    • There will be no out-of-pocket costs to students for this rapid COVID-19 test.
  • Students should immediately return to their vehicle to await test results. Students without vehicles will wait in a designated area outdoors.
  • Test results will be sent electronically to the student shortly after testing.
  • While waiting for test results, complete the daily COVID Self Checker in the UCF Mobile app.

After receiving your test results:

Students who receive a negative test result

  • Call 407-284-6000 to notify staff that you have arrived for your move-in appointment. Staff will let you know when to proceed to the Rosen community office, where returning residents will re-encode their ID card. New residents will receive their room key, ID card, and welcome bag before moving in to their rooms.
  • A limited number of move-in bins will be available for check-out. Bins are cleaned between uses, but are used at your own risk.

Students who receive a positive test result

  • Your test result email will include instructions on how to register for your immediate confirmation test. After registering, return to the testing location for a PCR confirmation test. After your PCR test, return to your vehicle, call the COVID line at 407-823-2509 to speak with a contact tracer. Residents and guests should continue to wait inside the vehicle. Students should receive their PCR results within 24-48 hours.
  • All students who receive a positive rapid test result will be required to isolate immediately.
    • DO NOT report to the Rosen community office. Call office staff at 407-284-6000 to discuss your isolation plan with Rosen housing staff.
    • It is highly encouraged that students make prior arrangements to isolate off campus if possible.
    • Students who are unable to isolate off campus may work with housing staff to arrange an isolation space on campus.
    • Neither residents nor their guests may enter their spring room assignment and may not place any belongings in their spring room assignment until they meet the criteria to discontinue isolation and are cleared by Student Health Services to check in to their spring room assignment.

Have a personal isolation plan in place before you arrive:

Know where you plan to isolate off campus and make a plan for where you will place belongings. It is strongly suggested that students isolate off campus if possible.

If you must isolate on campus, have enough belongings packed separately to take into immediate isolation in a temporary space. Be sure to have basic items for approximately 10 days, including:

  • medications
  • clothing
  • toiletries
  • electronic devices and chargers
  • bedding, pillow and a towel
  • minimal basic food preparation and cleaning supplies

Make a plan for where you will place or send non-essential belongings until you can check into your spring room assignment.

Statement on Move-in and guests:
All Rosen residents have agreed to abide by university COVID testing and policies as part of the housing agreement addendum. Students who violate move-in procedures or other COVID-related policies will be subject to removal from housing.
This includes residents who are found to have improperly entered housing facilities and any resident providing access to unauthorized visitors. Residents who have not yet completed the appropriate testing and move-in procedures are not authorized to access housing facilities, even as a visitor. Spring 2021 residents who have completed the appropriate move-in procedures may host one guest, who must be a current resident from their same building, who has also completed the appropriate move-in testing and procedures.

Driving Directions


Navigate via your preferred app or map to the Rosen College campus at 9907 Universal Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819. We strongly recommend paying close attention to signs and traffic alerts. Construction in Orlando may result in lane and/or exit changes. Please follow all posted signage and cautionary warnings as you drive.

Setting Up Your Room


Internet Setup

In order to connect to the internet in your room, you will need a computer equipped with at least a 10Mb Ethernet interface and a standard Ethernet cable to connect the computer to the provided Ethernet wall jack. If you have questions regarding your internet set-up, you may contact the UCF IT Support Center at 407-823-5117.

TV Setup

All rooms at Rosen are equipped with a residential cable converter box and cable TV service. You will need to provide your own television, coax or HDMI cord. If you are in a shared room, we suggest communicating with your roommate to decide who needs to bring a TV. Watch this video to see the cable setup process.

Bed (Mattress) Height

All beds will be raised to the maximum height prior to move-in. Only the Housing maintenance staff are permitted to alter bed heights. If you would like to have your bed lowered, place a request at fo.ucf.edu. No risers, lofts, or other types of lifting devices may be placed under the bed frame. Requests to have your bed lowered prior to move-in must be received no later than August 4.
