Move-In Ambassadors


Interested in becoming a Move-In Ambassador for Fall 2019 and having your early move-in fee waived?

The Department of Housing and Residence Life (DHRL) offers a “Move-in Ambassador” program for Fall move-in to help parents, families, and students get oriented and settled into their new space during the three-day general move-in period for the Fall term. This is a student-driven service; the number of ambassadors depends on the number of students who sign up.

All UCF students are eligible to serve as a Move-In Ambassadors. Ambassadors who are also living on campus and who meet all the requirements associated with the Move-In Ambassador role can have their early move-in fee waived through an early move-in fee waiver.

Currently, only Faculty and Staff are eligible to assist with UnionWest move-in.

Move-In Ambassador General Move-In Service Dates for 2019

Below are the general move-in dates for the Fall term that Move-In Ambassadors will serve in:

Wednesday, August 21, 2019 UnionWest (Faculty and staff only)
Friday, August 23-Sunday, August 25, 2019 Main Campus (Faculty, staff, and organizations may only volunteer on August 23 and August 24)

 

All UCF students and UCF student Organizations looking to assist during move-in as a Move-In Ambassador must:

  1. Successfully complete the Move-In Ambassador WebCourses module
  2. Fill out and submit a liability waiver (link to form can be found in the WebCourses module)
  3. If you are part of a UCF Student organization, the organization’s point of contact must send an email to hrlmoveinvolunteers@ucf.edu with the date and time the organization will be participating. Available volunteering dates and times for organizations are as follows:
    • August 23, 2019
      • 10 am - 12 pm
      • 12 pm – 2 pm
      • 2 pm – 4 pm
    • August 24, 2019
      • 10 am - 12 pm
      • 12 pm – 2 pm
      • 2 pm – 4 pm

Ambassador’s tasks include unloading cars, moving items, giving directions, and providing refreshments. Benefits include: early move-in, meeting new people on campus, welcoming new and returning students to campus, and taking advantage of the full UCF experience!

To ensure your participation in our move-in program, all individuals must complete all of the steps below no later than 8/5/2019.

  1. Fill out and submit the Faculty/Staff Move-In interest form
  2. Fill out and submit a liability waiver

Faculty/Staff Ambassador tasks include walking throughout a community assisting students and families navigate, actively looking for individuals who may look lost or confused and providing them with directions. At specific times, you may be asked to pass out water, ice pops or ponchos (if raining) to students and parents.

To ensure your organization’s participation in our move-in program, all members of your organization who will be participating must complete all the steps below. All members of the participating organization must volunteer on the same date and time and must indicate this on the interest form below.

All volunteers must submit their liability waiver electronically via the link below prior to move-in. Paper copies will not be accepted.

All steps outlined below must be completed no later than 8/5/2019.

  1. Fill out and submit the Non-UCF Organization Move-In Ambassador Interest form
  2. Fill out and submit a liability waiver
  3. If you are part of a non-UCF organization, the organization’s point of contact must send an email to hrlmoveinvolunteers@ucf.edu with the date and time the organization will be participating. Available volunteering dates and times for organizations are as follows:
    • August 23, 2019
      • 10 am - 12 pm
      • 12 pm – 2 pm
      • 2 pm – 4 pm
    • August 24, 2019
      • 10 am - 12 pm
      • 12 pm – 2 pm
      • 2 pm – 4 pm

Early move in fee waivers will be issued and credited to student accounts approximately 1 week after move-in weekend has occurred. To receive an early move-in waiver fee, the MIA must have completed all the expectations required of a Move-In Ambassador (see below).

  • Work two (2) shifts throughout the three (3) day move-in period. Each shift is four (4) hours, for a total of eight (8) required hours.
  • Complete the WebCourses training
  • Fill out and submit a liability waiver
    • If a UCF student and under 18, you must also fill out and submit the ‘Volunteer Service Agreement for Volunteers Under the Age of 18’ form which can be found on the WebCourses module
  • Sign in and out of every shift during move-in
  • You must have a fall room assignment in order to request early move-in.
  • Log into the Housing Portal by navigating to Student Self Service > Housing > Housing Portal. 
  • Click on the “Fall 2019 Early Move-In Request” on the right.
  • Read the important information. 
  • Select your desired early move-in day on the drop-down “Request Day” field on the Early Move-In Request Form.
  • Click Submit. 
  • You will receive an email confirming your request has been received.
