Giving back to the UCF community Posted Saturday, November 19, 2022 @ 2:16 PM Feeding Knights Everywhere is an event hosted by UCF Residence Hall Association in collaboration with U.S. Hunger. On Thursday, November 17th, a total of 85 volunteers packaged over 10,000 meals for Knights Pantry and their affiliates. Knights Pantry provides basic needs for UCF students, including food, clothing, and personal hygiene items, which helps foster academic success and increase retention for students in need. “One in seven people in Florida do not know where their next meal is coming from. We were ecstatic to have UCF- a college in our own backyard- take steps to alleviate some of this worry.” Corissa Raymond, U.S. Hunger. This food drive will surely help combat food security among our students, making a true impact in the UCF community. The event began with a presentation on how to assemble the bags with the various food items. In addition to packing meals, the event also included a holiday card-making station to add holiday cheer to the meal recipients, and a dog toy-making station to donate to Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Among event volunteers were several special guests, including President and First Lady Cartwright; Dr. Adrienne Frame, Vice President for Student Success and Well-Being; Dr. Mark Allen Poisel, Associate Director of the LEAD Scholars Academy; Arian Bryant, Director of Residence Life & Education; and Jaclyn Klinger, Assistant Director for Residence Life and Education- Academic Initiatives. Throughout the evening, there were friendly competitions to see who could fill a box with packaged meals the fastest. Together with Residence Hall Association, the Lead Scholars Academy, and the President’s Leadership Council, a total of 10,080 meals were packed, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday break. Back
