Maddie Hanewich was born in Sarasota, FL and made way to UCF to pursue a degree in Marketing on the Professional Sales track. As a freshman she lived in the Neptune LEAD Living Learning Community (LLC). For her sophomore year, she resided in Hercules.

Maddie has since gotten very involved throughout campus and is currently the Chair of the College of Business Ambassadors – a program consisting of an exceptional group of twenty-five business students acting as the College’s student voice and Dean’s liaison. She also serves on the prestigious President’s Leadership Council, a student advisory group to President Cartwright that works to help enhance the student college experience.

Despite juggling a full schedule, from a heavy course load to extracurriculars, Maddie still managed to secure a 2022 summer internship with Amazon in the Big Apple – Manhattan, New York City! Referred to the company by friends employed by Amazon in the past, she first went to UCF Career Services for mock interview assistance before taking to the company website to apply for the position. With interview practice under her belt and a superb resume at hand, Maddie had built up a new layer of confidence that would eventually help guide her through the Amazon interview process. Working as an Amazon Demand Generation Representative, Maddie is responsible for “building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and analyzing performance against key metrics to identify and implement efficient optimizations. She also collaborates with the company’s teams to tailor solutions to client goals and sell the Cloud to customers.”

Maddie is currently immersed in the Amazon culture and looks forward to growing on a professional and personal level through this experience. Being surrounded by like-minded people, learning about the company environment, building sales skills and techniques are just a few of the things she is enjoying most. Exploring the sales field and obtaining hands-on experience are skills destined to help in her future career hunt.

When asked about her favorite part about living on campus, Maddie stated “the opportunities it gives you! Living on campus and being so close to UCF’s resources allowed me to pursue more opportunities since everything is so accessible. Also, the community – I have met some of my best friends through living on campus and don’t think I could have met them otherwise!”
