Connect to a Smaller Community, Engage in Unique Experiences Posted Wednesday, January 29, 2020 @ 12:20 PM Students accepted to live on campus for the 2020-2021 school year can now apply to reside in a Living Learning Community (LLC). LLCs are groups of residents assigned together in communities with other students who share similar interests, such as majors or academic programs. LLC groups can be as small as a dozen students, or as large as a building of 500. The LLC housing experience provides residents with enhanced opportunities to grow and learn from their fellow peers. LLCs usually partner with a faculty or staff member on campus to provide unique experiences for their residents like trips, volunteer experiences, special lab sessions or lectures, or other group activities. UCF Housing and Residence Life currently offers several LLCs for first-year students, including communities for first-generation students, out-of-state students, future educators, and more. National studies have indicated that students who have participated in Living Learning Communities have showcased higher GPA’s, greater student success, stronger sense of belonging, higher retention rates, and greater connection to faculty and staff compared to their peers.
